Draft for lawyer review.
Terms of service
The short version
- You own what you publish. You give us permission to host, scan, and share it.
- Kits run on your machine with the permissions you approve. You use them at your own risk.
- Follow the acceptable use policy. We can remove content and accounts that break it.
- The service is provided as is, without warranties.
1. Who these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of SlashClone. By creating an account, publishing a kit, or installing one, you agree to them. If you use SlashClone for an organization, you agree on its behalf.
2. Your account
You sign in with GitHub and pick a handle. Keep your API tokens private and revoke any you think have leaked. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Handles are subject to the reserved list and the squatting rule in the acceptable use policy.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the kits, stacks, and builds you publish. By publishing public content, you give SlashClone and its users a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, scan, display, install, and clone it under the license you choose in the kit manifest. Private kits are only visible to you, but we still store and scan them to run the service.
Published versions are immutable: once a version is public, others may depend on it. If you delete your account, public kits stay available under your deleted account as described in the privacy policy.
4. Installing kits
Kits are written by their authors, not by us. We scan every public version and show what each kit declares it can touch, but scanning cannot catch everything. Read the permissions before you install, and only install what you trust. Authors are responsible for their kits; installers run them at their own risk.
5. What we can do
We may remove content, suspend accounts, or reclaim handles that break these terms or the acceptable use policy, or when the law requires it. When we pull a kit for security reasons, we tell the people who installed it.
6. No warranty and limited liability
SlashClone is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for harm caused by kits written by other people. [Lawyer to supply the liability cap and jurisdiction-specific language.]
7. Changes and ending
We will post changes here and, for material changes, tell signed-in users before they take effect. You can stop using SlashClone and delete your account at any time from your data settings.
8. Contact
Questions about these terms: legal@slashclone.dev (placeholder address, not monitored yet). [Lawyer to supply governing law, venue, and the operating entity.]
